**Position Summary**

Designs, builds, administers, monitors, and maintains large-scale data infrastructure and data processing systems.

•Optimizes data processing and query performance by fine-tuning data pipelines, database configurations, and data partitioning strategies.

•Establishes data quality checks and validations to identify and resolve data issues, ensuring high-quality and reliable data for downstream

applications and analytics.

•Implements security measures to protect sensitive data throughout the data lifecycle by working closely with security teams to ensure data encryption, access controls, and compliance with data protection regulations.

•Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, software engineers, and business stakeholders.

•Establishes auditing and monitoring mechanisms to track data access and maintain data governance standards.

•Establishes monitoring and alerting mechanisms to identify bottlenecks, latency, or failures, and troubleshoots data-related problems,

investigates root causes, and implements remediation measures.

•Explores new frameworks, platforms, or cloud services that can enhance data processing capabilities.

What you will do:

1. Servers: Install, configure and maintain Database System software to support the needs of the business.

a. Recommend and maintain appropriate sizing, resourcing and configuration of database servers to support customer requirements.

b. Assist in the design of servers to meet the requirements of the task or project.

c. Acquire and maintain software to assist in monitoring the performance and physical resources of data servers.

d. Provide 24/7 services and routing to address production issues uncovered through monitoring processes or as a result of stakeholder discovery.

e. Provide reports that can be used by stakeholders to review server usage and configurations.

2. Database Instances: Assist in the design, creation, and assume responsibility for maintaining and monitoring databases in the environment.

a. Advise and assist in data modeling and database design. Offer assistance with technical database implementation issues.

b. Maintenance of data server software to meet compliance requirements and sustain current licensing needs. Maintain servers at most recent release level where possible.

c. Provide and maintain tools to monitor database activities and create alerting systems for events.

d. Provide 24/7 response capabilities for production alert events.

e. Provide guidance and assistance with performance issues related to database usage.

f. Encourage standardization of usage and best practices and share best practice standards.

g. Maintain and oversee the processing of valid backups and understand Disaster Recovery processes.

h. Identify areas of potential concern and proactively address these with stakeholders, including suggesting process and performance improvements.

i. Develop and provide automated maintenance tasks.

j. Provide reports that users may review to analyze database activities and usage.

3. Data and Security: Facilitate access to the data for approved users.

a. Grant access for users and Service Accounts to servers, databases, and data that is necessary or advantageous to their job with approved authority.

b. Use role-based authentication wherever possible and comply with modern security standards such as AD group authentication.

c. Advise and assist in the design and development of database access as required or requested by our stakeholders.

d. Create access at the minimum necessary permissions to meet the requirements of the user.

e. Provide reporting for user privileges by database instance to support any auditing or inquiry.

f. Limit access to sensitive and/or protected data per company policy

**Required Qualifications**

+ 5+ years of database experience in Installing, configuring and maintaining Database Systems

+ •5+ years of SQL Server experience

+ •5+ years of Windows experience

+ •24x7 on-call participation approximately every 5 weeks

**Education**

+ Bachelor’s degree or, equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)

**Pay Range**

The typical pay range for this role is:

$83,430.00 - $203,940.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
