Position Title:Peer Mentor - Social Media, Community Outreach & Engagement (Temporary, Part-Time, up to 19.5 hours per week)
Department: District Office - External Relations Department
Rate of Pay: $15.00/hour

Position Summary:
The External Relations Department is recruiting for Peer Mentors to work in Social Media, Community Outreach & Engagement. The Peer Mentor's role is a part-time position to support in the delivery of the strategic vision of the College and help maximize recruitment and engagement across various digital platforms. The position requires creativity, flexibility, initiative, and drive. The Peer Mentors need to be approachable, efficient, enthusiastic and hard-working. Strong interpersonal skills are essential. Social Media Peer Mentors may be required to travel to more than one campus for work assignments when needed. Peer Mentors will also support project programming college-wide as needed. In addition, the Social Media Peer Mentors will need the confidence to create trending and engaging content in a wide range of different environments across the College on a day-to-to day basis. The Social Media Peer Mentors will work very closely with the External Relations & Marketing Department. Creating strong working relationships with both will be vital.
The work schedule for this position may include working evenings, weekends, and at multiple campus locations, when needed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Peer Mentors will assist with the following, which may include but not limited to:
* Create, upload and monitor social media content
* Showcase your unique personality through storytelling and marketing
* Execute concepts for content, explore new ways to showcase the Carroll community from the student perspective
* Provide entertaining content through reels and stories that provides value and encourages engagement
* Plan specific and timely marketing campaigns
* Help create brand awareness
* Use social media marketing tools
* Establish relationships/networks of industry professionals or influencers on social media
Leadership and Civic Engagement
* Assist in the planning and implementation of External Relations & Marketing Department programming events
* Assist in developing and facilitating a content calendar that embraces the Chancellor goals
* Assist with the promotion and marketing of key College events
Community Outreach and Engagement
* Support outreach initiatives by representing the College at local events, fairs, and community programs
* Help build connections with local organizations, student groups, and community leaders to foster collaboration and increase College visibility
* Engage in active listening and dialogue with community members to gather insights and promote inclusivity
* Assist in planning and promoting community-focused events, service activities, and engagement opportunities
* Serve as a student ambassador to help bridge communication between the College and the broader community
* Promote access to College resources and opportunities through digital and in-person outreach efforts
Job Requirements:
* High school diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED)
* Currently enrolled as a Pima Community College (PCC) student
* Achieve satisfactory academic progress (2.5 GPA and 70% completion rate or higher preferred)
And/Or
* Be registered for at least 6 credits at PCC/UA for the following semester
* Available to work flexible shifts and at multiple campus locations, when needed
* Experience or strong aptitude to learn social media management
* Awareness in trends with the ability to engage the community
Preferred:
* Experience with CapCut, Canva, or Adobe
* Strong writing skills
* Creativity in video storytelling creation
* Active in the Tucson and surrounding community
