**The Opportunity**

The candidate selected for this position will serve as a Director, Program Manager to own the Agency Portfolio Management Office (PMO). The Agency PMO team is accountable for governing and leading the Agency Portfolio to include financial accuracy, prioritization, routine and decision governance, case development, benefit realization and handling portfolio strategic and operational roadmaps.

Leads and handles resources for efficient and effective program or work effort(s) management. Responsible for departmental program oversight to include mentoring and directing program and / or teams of project managers, assigning individual program / project manager responsibilities, and identifying and resolving appropriate business plan and integration issues. Ensures execution of efforts are aligned and coordinated with corporate and line of business strategies, plans, programs, and initiatives. Adheres to EPMO processes, procedures, controls, standards, tools, and templates (as required). Supports cross-functional teams in the development and execution of change plans in accordance with USAA’s change methodology or industry standard processes.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be **in the office 4 days per week.** This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, NC or Tampa, FL. Relocation assistance is **not** available for this position.

**What you'll do:**

+ Accountable for the development and integration of multiple business programs, associated work efforts, and discrete work efforts to achieve strategic business goals and operational objectives.

+ Handles the overall program and / or discrete work efforts road map which includes multi-million-dollar sophisticated, strategic programs within a portfolio(s).

+ Facilitates sequencing, prioritization, and scheduling for programs; leads program scope, schedule, and budget.

+ Participates in work effort closure activities to resolve benefit / business impact realization to include retrospective management.

+ Provides consultation to program executives and senior / functional area management across USAA to plan and implement departmental programs and makes recommendations for process improvements to ensure they are effective.

+ Stays ahead of industry trends and standard processes and on developing business strategies, identifying benefits, and defining alternatives across departmental programs and across USAA programs and / or discrete work efforts.

+ Builds and develops a team of employees for assigned functional area through ongoing execution of recruiting, development, retention, coaching and support, performance management, and managerial activities.

+ Adheres to governance difficulty required for work efforts.

+ Drives the adoption and sustainment of changes within the organization in compliance with USAA’s Change Management methodology.

+ Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, supervised, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

+ Bachelor’s degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.

+ 8 years project and / or program management experience, including experience defining a new program and/or leading large scale projects.

+ 3 years of direct team lead or management experience.

+ Demonstrated experience using Waterfall or Agile methodologies to implement program strategies and deliver sophisticated work efforts.

+ Advanced understanding and proven application of risk management policies and procedures.

+ Extensive knowledge of program management methodology and techniques and program performance evaluation.

+ Proficient experience in USAA’s change management methodology or similar industry change management methodology.

+ Extensive experience developing, maintaining, and reporting on large cost work effort(s) / program budgets.

**What sets you apart:**

+ Experience in the development of cases and measuring benefit realization across portfolio financials.

+ Knowledge of USAA’s enterprise coordinated planning (EIP) and EPMO processes and requirements.

+ Confirmed experience with presenting, influencing, facilitating, and communicating with Senior EMG.

+ P&C industry knowledge and experience.

+ US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner.

**Compensation range:** The salary range for this position is: $143,320 - $273,930.

**Compensation:** USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
