kW Mission Critical Engineering, a WSP USA company, is currently initiating a search for a **Telecommunications Designer** to sit in any of our kW office **(Troy NY, New York, NY, Atlanta GA, Milwaukee WI, Tempe AZ or Herndon VA).** As a Telecommunications Designer with us, you will design Outside Plant Pathways and other building systems including MMR/IDF layouts, Cable Tray layouts, Wireless Access Point layouts, and structured Cabling infrastructure layout to support the Controls Network
Your Impact
+ Work independently to perform a variety of BIM/CAD design assignments supporting multiple engineering disciplines
+ Produce accurate 2D drawings, 3D BIM Models using Revit or equivalent BIM program
+ Design low voltage systems for buildings including telecommunications systems, audio visual, security, and electrical/mechanical control integrations
+ Meet required schedules while producing quality work
+ Perform Quality Assurance/Quality Control of design packages
+ Perform design tasks for site and building technologies including telecommunications systems, audio visual, security, and control integrations
+ Independently support the team during design and construction stages of projects
+ Research & recommend fundamental components identified in designs
+ Develop equipment, conveyance and device layouts, floor plan, and riser diagrams
+ Prepare cable schedules and specifications
+ Perform construction administrations tasks

Who You Are
The ideal candidate is highly experienced in Revit and AutoCAD and has experience in information and communications technology. Strong communication skills, and an interest in liaising with internal and external design, client and construction team members are also necessary.
**Required Qualifications**
+ 5+ years of experience designing low voltage systems for high performing commercial, industrial, or mission critical/data center buildings
+ Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent relevant work experience
+ Experience with applicable software packages including AutoCAD, Revit
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills

These technicians will need to have a good understanding of Cat5 cabling. They also need to have a good understanding of low voltage. The technicians need to be comfortable with heights, climbing ladders and getting into aerial lifts. Must be able to carry up to 40 pounds on site. The techs need to have reliable transportation and carry themselves professionally. Candidates will need to have their OSHA 10 certification.
The technicians will be pulling cable primarily; fiber and cat5. There will be a lot of OSP work as well. This job will be very hands on labor. The technicians won't be terminating/testing right out of the gates. But they will work towards this as they prove themselves on site. Client provides their own training when getting hired on. They will have a week of training before they go on site. They will show them everything they will need to know before getting on site.
The typical shift will be 10 hour days, 6a-430p, Monday through Friday. They can get up to 60 hour weeks, which would include working over the weekends.

This team will primarily support a network installation within a high-profile data center construction site. Work demands are fast-paced and high-volume, build quality standards are best-in-class exposing technicians to excellent standards and procedures within the industry. Expect to support other scope of work as well based on project changes and demand, which may include; OSP, IDF/MDF, LSS, Security, Fiber installation Job Duties and Responsibilities: - Install a work area outlet for floor, modular furniture and wall (terminate CAT 3 & CAT 5 jacks. Mount face plates and surface mount boxes correctly. Adhere to IES COMMERCIAL labeling standards). - Build closets (Mount and install backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic and hardware). Install grounding for racks, equipment and cable as required. Complete all IDC connections (e.g. terminate 110/66 blocks and patch panels). - Perform testing: continuity test horizontal and riser cable; use of volt-ohmmeter; troubleshoot opens, crosses, shorts and transpose pairs on horizontal and riser cable; use a tone set. - Identify active voice or data circuits. - Assume responsibility for effective performance of crew and provide necessary training; coordinate personnel and timeline to complete project. - Fully complete all IES COMMERCIAL paperwork accurately and on time (timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers and others as required). - Adhere to and participate in all Company, customer and industry quality and safety standards and regulations. - Complete other responsibilities as assigned. Responsible for the installation, test, and balance energy management systems as they pertain to the installation of controls for refrigeration systems, HVAC-R , and lighting in a grocery store and/or cold storage distribution format. Repair, test, adjust, or install electronic equipment, such as industrial controls, transmitters, and antennas.
**Responsibilities**
+ Responsible for timely completion of assigned projects and customer satisfaction.
+ Communicates with customers and their representatives, including building owners, mechanical contractors, other trades, subcontractors, and field support staff.
+ Ensures compliance with internal contracting processes regarding customer specific documentation and closeout processes.
+ Test faulty equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test equipment or software, and applying knowledge of the functional operation of electronic units and systems.
+ Inspect components of industrial equipment for accurate assembly and installation or for defects, such as loose connections or frayed wires.
+ Have thorough knowledge of various energy management systems, heating, ventilation systems, air conditioning and refrigeration systems;( Novar, Danfoss, and Emerson CPC).
+ Maintain equipment logs that record performance problems, repairs, calibrations, or tests. Think analytically and independently, install, program, and troubleshoot, maintain, modify, and repair control systems for HVAC-R, refrigeration, and lighting controls in a grocery store and cold storage atmosphere.

Essential Functions:
+ Complete physical installations and removal of structured cabling components, cabinets, pathway systems (cable tray), move equipment, racks, and related communications infrastructure materials.
+ Perform installation and service of low voltage category cabling, fiber optic cabling, communications cabling, communication equipment and other various low voltage related systems such as Category 5, Enhanced Category 5, Category 6 and Fiber Optic Structured Cable Distribution Systems.
+ Perform upgrades and additions to cabling infrastructure systems in order to increase functionality and usability.
+ Evaluate, diagnose, troubleshoot cabling infrastructure systems and perform repairs as necessary.

Summary:
The Infrastructure Technician I performs skilled infrastructure/structured cabling work in the installation, service and maintenance, repair and alteration of low voltage category cabling, fiber optic cabling, communications cabling and other various low voltage cabling systems.
Essential Functions:
+ Complete physical installations and removal of structured cabling components, cabinets, pathway systems (cable tray), move equipment, racks, and related communications infrastructure materials.
+ Perform installation and service of low voltage category cabling, fiber optic cabling, communications cabling, communication equipment and other various low voltage related systems such as Category 5, Enhanced Category 5, Category 6 and Fiber Optic Structured Cable Distribution Systems.
+ Perform upgrades and additions to cabling infrastructure systems in order to increase functionality and usability.
+ Evaluate, diagnose, troubleshoot cabling infrastructure systems and perform repairs as necessary.
+ Inform operations management regarding procedures and/or status of work orders for the purpose of providing necessary information for making decisions, taking appropriate action and/or complying with OSHA regulations.
+ Complete required documentation in a variety of written and electronic formats according to company standards such as time reporting for billing & payroll, work order progress & completion, time and materials for client SLAs, etc.
+ Travel to client sites as needed to complete assigned work and transport a variety of items (e.g. tools, equipment, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at client site.
Education Requirements:
+ Associate degree or Certification in a technology services/technical discipline, or equivalent work experience.
Experience Requirements:
+ 2-5 years of experience in a Site Support Technician role (or similar experience)

+ CNET CNCI,
+ BICSI Installer (INST1)
+ BICSI Installer 2 copper/fiber (INSTC/INSTF)
+ Manufacturer certifications

+ Proven ability to install, terminate & test low voltage cables to include twisted pair cable, coax, power limited tray cable, stranded & solid conductor low voltage cable and fiber optic cable.

+ Ability to carry up to 30 lbs. and lift up to 50lbs.

Competencies
