Provides technical assistance and guidance for due diligence, investigation, remediation, improvement, and/or construction infrastructure projects in the public sector. Tasks may include assisting with the research, design, concept development, planning, and construction of load-bearing structures or structural elements, such as bridges, signs, walls, and associated transportation facilities. Generates accurate and concise reports, plans, specifications, and estimates. Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, structural soundness, and functionality.

Your Impact

+ Perform engineering techniques on a variety of assignments for structural elements under minimal supervision.

Who You Are

**Required Qualifications**

+ Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline.

+ 5 to 7 years of relevant post education experience in engineering discipline and prior structural or civil design experience.

+ Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) Certification having completed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.

+ Experience working with ADOT and other Arizona local agency projects is preferred.

+ Experience with industry design standards such as AASHTO, ACI, AISC, ASCE etc.

+ Proficient knowledge of structural engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to project work-related issues.

+ Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management; including active involvement in a variety of rehabilitation and new design projects.

+ Working knowledge of relevant structural and civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.

+ Ability to make technical computations and calculations involving the application of engineering principles, understanding plans and specifications, and making factual comparisons to the appropriate regulations.

+ Effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.

+ Highly capable self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.

+ Ability to work independently and provide guidance and leadership to junior team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.

+ Experience with discipline-specific design software (i.e., Bentley products, MDX, CSiBridge, LPile, LARSA, OpenBridge Designer, MathCad, Excel).

+ Developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution.

+ Ability to assertively direct others in the field such as subcontractors and others to consistently complete tasks safely and efficiently.

+ Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

+ Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.

**Requirements:**

+ 7+ years of engineering experiencing, preferably in presales/consulting

+ Must have prior experience in supporting Army customers; a veteran with prior service in the US Army and tactical systems experience is highly desired

**Job Description:**

This position manages construction projects of low to moderate complexity and risk (i.e., conveyor installations and facility modifications). He/She ensures adherence to contract documentation, scheduled timelines, and cost control parameters. This position may develop project documentation (e.g., Request for Appropriation project scope of work, estimates, etc.).

**Responsibilities:**

+ Completes the bid package process (e.g., bid creation, bid evaluation, background check, bid award, etc.) to select the most competitive bid and competent vendor for contracts (e.g., soils, survey, conveyor, conveyor electrical, etc.).

+ Requests and evaluates bids and proposals according to competitive bid, background check, and competence of identified vendors to recommend the awarding of contracts.

+ Develops project schedules to ensure adherence to deadlines.

+ Investigates mechanical breakdown problems (e.g., conveyor system failures, operator errors, system design flaws, etc.) to prevent a decrease in productivity and efficiency.

+ Identifies areas for construction process improvement and design solutions to achieve optimal package flow efficiency.

+ Evaluates budget performance, analyzes sources of surplus, and negotiates with vendors to prevent future changes to project scope.

+ Maintains cost log and project management checklist, processes invoices, and releases funds to contractors to facilitate and document project completion.

+ Conducts construction inspections of materials and installations to ensure performance meets UPS standards, repairs are completed within scheduled deadlines, and quality materials are utilized.

+ Bachelor’s Degree or International equivalent

We are looking for a motivated Technology Project Manager that is comfortable and capable of

managing or supporting technology initiatives from strategic projects to functional enhancements to operational maintenance and upgrades.
